Cardiff City striker Fraizer Campbell is expected to sign for Palace next week for just £600,000, FYP has learned.
The Eagles have met the former Sunderland man's release clause of £800,000 and have been in talks to bring him to Selhurst.
Premier League new boys Leicester City had also triggered Campbell's release clause but were put off by his high wage demands.
But Palace aren't and are thought to be close to agreeing a deal worth around £30,000-a-week.
The 26-year-old is keen to stay in the top flight after Cardiff's relegation and could be partnered up from for Palace with Marouane Chamakh, who signed a two-year contract extension at the Eagles.
Campbell would be Palace's third signing of the summer after goalkeeper Chris Kettings signed on a free transfer from Blackpool and former Arsenal youngster Morgan Ferrier arrived.
Meanwhile, Palace are also interested in Spurs attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.
